What Is Algebra?

March 7th, 2010 by Administrator

We can say that Algebra is the center of maths. An in depth knowledge of algebra and its basics is required before you could work on more complex mathematical problems. If someone asks you to get the product of 223 and 112, you can easily do it manually or with a calculating machine. However, in a case where you need to work around the exponential of 223 and logarithm of 112, you will certainly need an algebraic problem solver. Graphing a circle will be easy for this given formula X2 + Y2 = 4 but when it comes for an inequality like (X-2)2 + (Y-4)2 > 20 then it will be quite harder to plot the graph. In this situation algebra software applications can help you a great deal because once you enter the inequality in the program, the graph will get drawn automatically within a fraction of second. These kinds of software packages can easily resolve any kind of algebraic, arithmetic and radical expressions of any kind of complexity.

Domain and Range of a Function

Although, obtaining the domain and range of a function such as Y = X2 can be easily found by considering the number range on the X-Y plane, defining the domain and range of a log(tan 2x + sin 3x) = cosine(-4)(2x) will be excessively difficult. But now you can solve such critical and complex problems with an algebra calculator without breaking sweat and you will also be getting all the steps as well

Coordinate Geometry

It is now, easier than ever to find the vertex and directrix or whether a parabola opens up or down, using algebra software systems. Addition, subtraction and multiplication of binomials are quite tiresome, since they involve lots of terms to manipulate. But algebra calculator will do this job in much less time and with 100% accuracy. Similarly, algebra calculators can save the trouble for you in calculating matrices of 33 or 44 order or its inverse matrices.

So, with the introduction of algebra software systems, the times where you dreaded the sight of indices, fractions or linear equations , comes to an end. If you could not stand geometry, you may even start liking it afterwards thanks to the computerized algebra systems that will automatically simplify everything you ever need.

Considering a Residential Wind Turbine

March 7th, 2010 by Administrator

If you are like many people today, you may be considering a residential wind turbine. However, before you install any type of wind power generator there are several important questions that you need to ask. Failure to address these issues ahead of time could result in the failure to achieve your expected goals, legal trouble, an unsafe installation, or it could even end up costing you a lot of money. Even though these consequences sound dire, they shouldn’t prevent you from making the effort. There’s really no reason to buy a wind generator considering that you can build your own 1000w home wind turbine for under $150 including the plans. Our family has built 3 now for our own off grid home and are sure you will have no trouble building your own either. What will you need to get started?? A decent sized garage or shop ? Diy wind turbine plans ? A good helper (it makes a great family project) ? Simple tools available in most households, no special toolsWhere do you start?First off, after examining the plans you will see that you need to order a DC motor to be used as a power generator for your home. Are you ready to waste that much cash, when you can make your system for less than $300 bucks?Seriously, don’t buy wind power generator. If you don’t know how to create one, that’s not a problem. I didn’t know that too, when I first started? However, you can always find help on the Internet. It’s full of resources.Source: wind turbines

How Do You Find Renewable Energy?

January 9th, 2010 by Administrator

We already know that the use of electricity, gas and coal are all resources that we may eventually run out of. These are the non-renewable resources that we rely heavily on today. We use these non-renewable resources to do many things, including supplying us with power, heating our homes, businesses and schools and more. When we use all the non-renewable resources up and there are no more to gather, then what? How will we go without the convenience that we are so accustomed to? It’s nice to flip a switch to get power and it is even better when the latest technology allows us to press a button to do all the things that women and men had to work for hours to accomplish. We are fortunate to live in a world with so many modern gadgets. Unfortunately when we lose it we may be so accustomed to the modern perks that we will not know what to do when we don’t have them any longer. What we have to rely on in the future is renewable resources. These resources are all resources that offer us an abundant supply and will never run out. They recharge and allow us to enjoy them again and again. The renewable resources consist of Solar, Wind, Biomass, Hydrogen, Geothermal, Ocean, and Hydropower We need all of these and right now we have access to each one of them. What do they do and how do they help us with solar power? Let’s find out. Solar refers to the solar energy that we get everyday either directly or indirectly from the sun. Solar energy can be used for several things, such as heating, electricity to home, schools, businesses, or buildings, heating water, cooling and ventilation. Wind helps the suns heat down to earth. When the wind combines with the heat of the sun, it causes evaporation. When the water turns into precipitation it produces energy that can then be captured by hydropower. Hydropower takes energy from flowing water and captures it turning it into electricity.

Hydropower is very complicated and requires a great deal of technology in order to successfully accumulate energy from water. Biomass is an organic matter that can help to make up the plants. It can be used for the production of electricity, transport fuels or chemicals. Hydrogen is the most abundant element found on earth, usually with other elements. If hydrogen is found alone it can be burned or converted into electricity. Geothermal looks toward the inner parts of the earth for heat and can be used for power, heating, and cooling. Ocean produces thermal energy using the heat from the sun. It can also use mechanical energy for the tides and waves.

Junkyard Wind Turbines

October 28th, 2009 by Administrator

It is now much easier than ever before; with everything from instructions made for the average joe to parts readily available for dirt cheap online (many parts are even free or almost free from the junkyard). There is a reason this trend is sweeping the globe, its cheap, its fast, its easy, it erases your carbon footprint and best of all not paying an electric bill is a great thing. There, we found literally hundreds of home-made examples developed by people in exactly our situation. Several of the sites not only showed how to build the wind turbines; they also showed how to “scrounge” for all the parts-how to find tower parts and wire at construction sites, how to find good generators from old mainframe computers, and how to find great blades in all kinds of unlikely places. Those same sites frequently warned us of pitfalls and “landmines” in the process, and many of the writers willingly shared their own bad experiences so that we could avoid them. Renewable, Green Energy. This is also filtering down to smaller industries and organizations. However, with millions of home owners around the globe, what difference could we make. Looking more specifically at Wind and Solar energy for your home, many people have asked the question “does it really work - is it a realistic option?”. In my opinion, the answer to this question is a definite yes. Home made Wind Turbines and Solar Panels are by far the easiest and cheapest ways for you harness the power of nature and generate your own energy for your home. Isn that enough of a reason to start going green? On one hand you can save your money by reducing your electrical bill and on the other hand, if your electricity is in excess for the month, then you will actually get paid for that amount of extra power by your local power company. Imagine that for a change, having your power company pay you at the end of the month.

Diagnosis Abnormal Cell Growth of Mesothelioma Demands Qualified Tests

June 25th, 2009 by Administrator

Cancer of the mesotheliumhas a few primary symptoms. Pleural mesotheliomas primary symptom is shortness of breath as a consequence of pleural effusion ” fluid being built up in the pleura, or membrane, encompassing the lung. The next most common symptomis chest pain due to the tumor invading the chest wall. Symptoms may also include fatigue, loss of weight and night sweats

The most common sign of patients with abdomen mesothelioma, which is centralized in the abdomen, is fluid buildup (known as ascites) in the abdomen causing abdominal swelling, pain in the abdomen, and blockage of the bowel.

It is important to note that these symptoms could be caused by a myriad of diseases or conditions. But if you have experienced any of these symptoms and have had asbestos exposure, you should see your doctor.

Mesothelioma cancer is problematic to diagnose, because less serious conditions also cause similar symptoms. These symptoms include:

  • Having trouble breathing
  • Lower back or chest pains from a buildup of fluid in the pleura
  • Burning up
  • Vomiting
  • Raspy voice
  • Having trouble swallowing
  • Coughing blood

One should not self-diagnose themselves. Sufferers of the above symptoms should not panic, and should consult their doctor. The standard way to confirm the condition is with a biopsy. A pathologist takes a small tissue sample from the suspected region and performs an examination that will result in a very accurate diagnosis. Biopsies are generally not painful.

Another option is a CT (Computed Tomography) scan. This is an X-ray procedure where a scanner takes many cross-sectional images as it rotates around the body. Once in a while, a dye is ingested by the patient to help define the images. CT scans have the advantage of being non-invasive and easier, and they are considered an effective way of diagnosing the disease. Opinion is divided as to whether the scan is more or less cost-effective than a biopsy. If there are abnormalities, a biopsy may also be ordered to determine if a tumor exists, and if so, if the tumor is benign or malignant. It is also possible to diagnose pleural mesothelioma by testing a sample of fluid from the pleura for cancer cells.

Mesothelioma can also be screened and then diagnosed by any of these methods. Patients who may think they are at risk but do not display any symptoms are typically screened, to ensure they are not at risk to get the cancer or to catch the cancer early. People who need to be screened include those with a history of asbestos exposure..

The Algebra Benefit

June 17th, 2009 by Administrator

Let’s Explore Algebra

It is an domain of mathematics that use alphabetic characters in place of numbers to derive results for a given situation. This abstraction is the very reason why most individuals find algebra scary and too difficult to handle and it is the same reasons why some pupils find it fun to play around with. topics of algebra range from working with inequalities to factoring binomials all the way to finding the y-intercept. Most individuals get down to study Algebra by adding, subtracting, reducing and simplifying fractions . They then move on to understanding equivalent fractions , finding Least Common Multiples (LCM) and converting fractions to decimals.

Help!!! Exponents, Radicals and Graphing on the Way…

There are many higher level subjects. To start off with there are powers. An exponent is the little number placed as superscript to a number or algebraic expression. In this example (x + y)3 where the 3 is the exponent and refers the power to which that number is exponentiated. The above algebraic expression is expressed as, x plus y to the third power. While working with powers you will oftentimes encounter exercises that require you to add, subtract, multiply and divide. If you pick up the basic principles, you will shortly start working with rational and negative powers and if you think those are not challenging enough, hopefully complex number will spin your head. A radical, simply put, is the undoing of an exponent. Radical expressions are denoted by the symbolic representation “V” and when placed next to number 4, it is read as square root of 4, which is equal to 2. The opposite exponential equation is 2^2 which is read, 2 to the 2nd power, and equals 4. Moreover, exponents can be added, subtracted, multiplied or divided by radicals. Radicals can be changed into exponents and exponents back into radicals. If powers and radicals aren’t enough, there is always graphing. The best way to start with graphing is to draw lines and try to work out if they are horizontal, vertical or neither. Another question to ask is whether the line has an x-intercept or a y-intercept Furthermore, try and see if you can find the slope of a line. Once you master graphing lines, a whole world of circles, parabolas and hyperbolas awaits you!

Help is Out There

If you are learning algebra and this all seems a little too much, don’t sweat. It’s time to look around because there exists a wide array of resources that is able to help you master the subject area. The tradition is to decide on a math tutor, but the cutting-edge algebraic software are no different. In fact, they are as good as math tutors. Know that frustration is not your only friend because any of these tools can help you become an algebra expert in very little time.

Make Your Environmental Resume Fed Ready Now

December 25th, 2007 by Administrator

Make Your Federal Resume Fed Ready Now Uncle Sam is fussy
about your paperwork

Environmental Career Center

Hampton, Virginia

Want a great job with a good salary, security, nice benefits,
and promotion opportunities in natural resources policy &
management, environmental protection, sustainability planning &
design, or related area? How about helping with the
environmental clean-up of Katrina? Interested in a cool job at
the Flat Tops Wilderness Area in Colorado, Denali National Park
& Preserve in Alaska, or NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science
Center in Woods Hole? If you answered yes to any of these
questions, then a Federal career of protecting our environment
may be right for you.

However, if you expect to email your current résumé when
applying to Federal agencies, think again. You need to create a
résumé version (or several versions) to meet Uncle Sam’s rigid
rules now to be prepared in advance of the right opportunity.
Why? Because some Federal job application procedures require
much more paperwork, have tight deadlines, and can be
intimidating … though they have simplified the process much
over the past decade.

You may apply for most Federal jobs with a résumé, an Optional
Application for Federal Employment (OF 612), or other written
format. If your résumé or application does not provide all the
information requested on the OF 612 and in the job vacancy
announcement, you may lose consideration for a job. Obtain the
OF 612 at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill
/of612.pdf .

Information That Is Required In a Federal Résumé:

If you prepare a résumé, be sure you provide all of the
information listed below. This is the same information that is
identified on the OF-612 application form, You don’t need to
send both an OF-612 application form and a résumé.

Tell the agency what job you are applying for -The vacancy
announcement number, title and grade

Provide all of the following:

-Full name, mailing address and day/evening telephone numbers
-Social Security Number

-Country of Citizenship

-Highest Federal civilian grade held, job series, and dates of
employment in the grade.

Education:

-High School name, city, state and zip code, date of diploma or
GED

-Colleges and/or Universities attended, city, state and zip code

-Major field(s) of study

-Type and year of degree(s) received.

Work experience related to the job for which you are applying.

-Job title

-Duties and accomplishments

-Number of hours per week

-Employers name and address

-Supervisor’s name and phone number

-Starting and ending dates of employment (month and year)

-Salary

-Indicate if your current supervisor may be contacted.

Other Qualifications:

-Job-related training courses (title and year)

-Job-related skills (e.g., other languages, computer
software/hardware, tools, machinery, typing speed, etc.)

-Job-related certificates and licenses

-Job-related honors, awards, and special accomplishments (e.g.
publications, memberships in professional or honor societies,
leadership activities, public speaking, performance awards,
etc.) (Do not send copies of documents unless specifically
requested.)

Veterans Preference:

-Indicate if you are claiming 5 points (attach DD 214) or 10
points (attach an Application for 10 Point Veterans’ Preference
(SF-15) and proof required as indicated on the SF-15.)

Refine Your Résumé — Prove You’re the One They Want

Obviously, you may want to have several versions of your Federal
résumé for each type of position you desire and for which you
qualify. For example, prepare one Federal résumé for an
Environmental Protection Specialist (GS-0028 series) and one
résumé for Wildlife Biologist (GS-486 series). You may review
qualifications for each job in the US Office of Personnel
Management (OPM) Handbook of Occupational Groups and Families -
see
www.opm.gov/fedclass/html/gsseries.asp.

Remember to check the Federal job announcement thoroughly for
all the required and desired qualifications and other
information the hiring official specifies. The KSAs are often a
candidate screening tool for Federal agencies - KSAs are
knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required
qualifications for the job. If they are listed, then you need to
prepare a narrative that describes how you meet each KSA. Be
clear, complete, and concise. This is extra work, but at least
Uncle Sam has created a résumé writing tool for you.

Résumé Building Tool

The OPM has a nice résumé building tool online that will help
walk you through the process. Go the OPM web site www.opm.gov, and click on the Create a
Résumé button. You may simply cut and paste from your current
résumé, but remember to include in your résumé all the
information discussed above.

Prepare your Federal environmental résumé now. When you find a
great job opening with short deadline, you’ll be way ahead of
competing candidates, and less stressed out. Do it now.

Suntan-Oil - How protected are you?

November 26th, 2007 by Administrator

Lots of people consider that a tan makes them more attractive and more healthy-looking, and so go out of their way to sit in the sun for hours and get one. However, this doesn’t always result in much of a tan, meaning that you will often have to sit in the sun for days on end to see any noticeable effects.

The solution to this problem, at least supposedly, is sun tan oil. Tanning oils are there to make your skin more sensitive to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, meaning that it absorbs more and therefore goes browner. This is controversial, as UV rays have been linked to skin cancer among other diseases, and it is believed that using tanning oils can lead to skin damage – a high price to pay considering the only reason to use them is, essentially, vanity.

The alternatives leave a lot to be desired, though. Using a tanning bed has the same problems in terms of skin damage, and costs a lot too. Fake tan tends to be very fake-looking, making you go more bright orange than brown, and it is hard to escape the feeling that you’re a little tragic if you use it.

With this is mind, many consider the tanning oil alternative to be the best of a bad bunch. It is possible to go some way towards minimising the risks of tanning oil if you get oil that protects you from the sun at least to some extent (look for ones with SPF on the bottle), and try to only stay in the sun for half an hour or so. Since you have put on the tanning oil, it is very important not to stay out for too long, and this is the mistake that many people make.

Whatever you do, remember that tans are not really as healthy as people think they are: a tan is actually your body’s way of dealing with damage that has been caused by the sun, in an effort to stop you from getting sunburn. If you are going to have a tan, it’s wise to limit the times when you do rather than try to have one all year round, and to be very careful with the sun. If you hurt yourself now, you might not know about it until you’re 50 or even older, but when you find out it won’t be a nice surprise for you.

John Gibb is the owner of sun tan oils information, For more information on sun tan oil please check out www.Sun-Tan-Oils-information.info
